Orange Lights Over Okinawa’s Hyakuna Beach
On 6 July 2026, beachgoers at Hyakuna Beach in Nanjo, Okinawa, filmed blazing orange lights over the sea for about 20 minutes. Ishigaki Island Astronomical Observatory points to illumination flares, a JASDF NOTAM listed flare drops, and an air-rescue unit trained that day. Japan’s coast guard says it wasn’t them.
