BACK CATALOG. First reported 23 October 2026, week of Mon 19 Oct to Sun 25 Oct 2026. Part of the Redacted Weekly six-month back catalog (May to Nov 2026). Not breaking news.

What happened

On Friday 23 October 2026, the Department of War published the seventh batch of files under its PURSUE program (Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters) at war.gov/UFO. It contained 28 PDFs, taking the archive from 450 to 478 files according to the independent UAP Browser index.

The newest documents in the archive describe an encounter in June 2026. Federal agents at an observation post near an unspecified “national security site” in the western U.S. were alerted by a third agent stationed nearby. According to CBS News, they repositioned and saw a craft above a ridgeline a few miles to the west, against the glow of the sky after sunset. It rose silently, hovered, then sped away.

The footage

There is no video in this case. CBS News reports that the FBI document includes illustrations of the scene and of the craft, and CBS compiled them into a short animation. The UAP Browser index describes the FBI form as including nine dusk photographs. That detail comes from a third-party summary and has not been checked against the PDF here. No image from the files is reproduced on this page. The featured image is a generic public-domain night sky from the Bureau of Land Management, not the incident.

What witnesses reported

The witnesses are unnamed federal agents. Their FBI statement, as quoted by CBS News, reads: “We initiated a visual survey of the western horizon and almost immediately observed a substantial, nonreflective, dark black triangular object most resembling a delta wing drone.” On size: “We estimated the object’s wingspan at approximately nine to fifteen feet, its depth at six to nine feet, and its thickness at one to two feet.”

Through an infrared scope, they said, the object “appeared hotter than ambient temperature with a completely consistent thermal signature across the entire airframe and no visible exhaust gases.”

What the research found

The AARO memo describes the flight. According to CBS News, the memo says the “unidentified craft was executing a slow, controlled, perfectly vertical ascent directly over the ridge line.” It climbed about 200 to 300 feet “while maintaining a completely static orientation without tilting, swaying, or wobbling,” and investigators wrote that the “ascent occurred in absolute acoustic silence.”
