On 23 July 2026, a beachgoer called 911 after seeing a white object drop into the Atlantic off Treasure Shores Beach Park, followed by black smoke. Four agencies searched about 40 square miles and found nothing. Patrick Space Force Base said military aircraft may have dropped flares in the area.
