- The Asahi Shimbun reported on 10 July that orange lights were seen off Hyakuna Beach in Nanjo, Okinawa, between about 7:30 and 8pm on 6 July.
- Grades: Orange lights were filmed off Hyakuna on 6 Jul: CONFIRMED; They were military flares: CREDIBLE
- Mundane explanation: Parachute illumination flares: orange, slowly drifting down, appearing in lines, and blinking out one at a time.
