Cornell Says It Never Tested the ‘Neanderthal Bigfoot’

Case no. RW-BC-2026-041
Subject: Cornell University’s denial of a claimed Bigfoot DNA report
Event: Denial reported Sunday, 2 August 2026
First report: New York Post, 2 Aug 2026 · Last checked: 4 Nov 2026
Location: Ithaca, New York (Cornell); remains claimed from the Adirondacks
Status · Grade: Lab denies it · Cornell report DEBUNKED

What happened

In late June 2026, Charles “Snake” Stuart, who bills himself as “Snake the Bigfoot Hunter,” published what he said was a Cornell University DNA test. It said his claimed 8-foot, 300-pound Adirondack Sasquatch body was 58.5% “Neanderthal/Denisovan” and 41.5% human. On 2 August, Cornell answered through the New York Post: “Cornell did not conduct any testing for [Stuart,] or present a report.” The spokesperson also confirmed that the documents on his website “marked as coming from the university” were not Cornell’s work.

The footage

There is no video in this case. The evidence is documents and statements. Stuart’s earlier WDIV interview (30 June 2026) is covered in our companion rewrite on the DNA claim itself.

Timeline

  • 1995: The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) is founded. The Post cites it as an early critic of the claim.
  • 2005 and 2008: Tom Biscardi’s capture claim and the “Bigfoot in ice” rubber-suit hoax (Popular Mechanics).
  • 2014: The Sykes study of “anomalous primate” hair finds only known animals.
  • 2024: Stuart says the body was found in the Adirondacks.
  • 2025: He displays it at the Great New York State Fair.
  • 30 June 2026: The DNA claim airs on WDIV.
  • 2 August 2026: Cornell’s denial (NY Post).
  • 3 August 2026: The Telegraph reports the denial.
  • 7 August 2026: The Telegraph reports a $10 million lawsuit threat.
  • 13 October 2026: Popular Mechanics reviews the dispute.

What witnesses reported

There are no witnesses to an event here, only two parties. Stuart told the Post: “CORNELL IS FLAT OUT LYING — I WILL NOT BE SILENCED.” He framed the dispute as “panic over control” and said: “This is essentially a David VS Goliath story and we all know who wins in the end.” Cornell has made no further public comment in the cited sources.

What the research found

The named lab disowns the paperwork. This is decisive for the “Cornell report” claim. An institution’s statement that it ran no test and wrote no report outweighs a document bearing its name, unless someone shows a chain of custody. No such chain has been published.
