A Coeur d’Alene Couple’s Daylight Rectangle

What happened

A married couple in Coeur d’Alene, in the Idaho Panhandle, reported a daylight sighting to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) on 14 August 2026. Their report, #200185, describes a “very large” object that appeared to hover over a tree line at about 2 p.m. They said it was rectangular, gave off multiple colours of light, and had blinking lights on two sides. They estimated it at 300 to 400 feet across, and they filmed it on a cellphone.

Country station KEZJ wrote the report up on 21 August under the headline “WATCH: Idaho Couple Records ‘400 FT’ UFO Above Tree Line”. The station said “the footage is clear” and showed “blinking lights coming from two different sides of the craft”. The witnesses haven’t been named.

Video evidence: the uploaders are the witnesses, via their NUFORC submission. It’s a cellphone recording in daylight. The length isn’t published, and the original file’s metadata (camera, zoom, frame rate) isn’t public. KEZJ links to the clip. We link to it and don’t rehost it.

Timeline

• 14 Aug 2026, around 2 p.m.: the couple see the object and film it, according to their NUFORC report (KEZJ). KEZJ gives 14 August as the reporting date. It isn’t entirely clear whether the sighting was on the same day.
• 14 Aug onward: NUFORC, which says it follows up with phone interviews with witnesses, investigates the report and then publishes it as #200185, footage included.
• 21 Aug 2026, 14:14 UTC: KEZJ publishes its write-up and notes this is the 17th Idaho report NUFORC has investigated in 2026.
• 9 May 2026: an earlier Coeur d’Alene-area report, NUFORC #197586, which KEZJ mentions for context.
• Later in 2026: The UAP Trail tracks the case and says the NUFORC detail page was “access-limited” when it tried to check it.
• 4 Nov 2026: we rechecked. No identification has been published, and nobody has publicly analysed the footage.

What believers claim

The striking detail is size. KEZJ calls the 300-to-400-foot estimate “the one detail that jumps off the page”. On the witnesses’ reading, a structured object the length of a football field hung silently over the trees in broad daylight, lit on more than one side. Supporters point out that this isn’t a night-time light: it was filmed at 2 p.m. by two people together, and reported to a long-running civilian database.

What the research found

It’s a real report with real footage attached. KEZJ and The UAP Trail both cite NUFORC case #200185, a cellphone recording in daylight, and the Coeur d’Alene location. That makes it a far more concrete case than the usual anonymous viral clip.
