What happened

On Monday 11 May 2026, Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov posted a short black-and-white infrared clip on his Telegram channel. He is a radio and electronic-warfare specialist and an adviser to Ukraine’s Defence Minister. He said soldiers had sent it to him, that it was filmed in May 2025, and gave the figure of 800 metres.

Kyiv Post’s senior defence correspondent Stefan Korshak described “a rounded object with a visible heat source in the middle, and six sharply pointed cones projecting from a main body in the shape of a flattened sphere,” with “a plume, or cloud warmer than the night air” behind it. According to Beskrestnov, an Unmanned Systems Forces pilot recorded it during combat operations.

Beskrestnov didn’t call it alien. “What might look like a UFO might well be a hidden new weapons of our enemy,” he wrote, as translated by Kyiv Post.

The footage

  • Uploader: Serhiy Beskrestnov, Telegram channel @serhii_flash.
  • Posted: 11 May 2026.
  • Length: Kyiv Post calls it one minute. Fuller copies run about 1:27–1:28.
  • Format: Alien News reports the public copy is a compressed 608×480 video, not a raw sensor file. No time, location, range or telemetry was released.
  • What it shows: A bright point with a hot core and six spikes, which hovers or drifts. The operator pans and tilts to follow it.
  • Key moment: At about 0:14–0:15, Metabunk users note that when the camera rotates, “the 6 pointed star shape remains level with sensor horizontal.”

The clip is linked rather than reproduced here. Kyiv Post embeds it.

Timeline

  • 2013: A US Central Command infrared platform records an “eight-pointed star” shape over the Middle East (Pentagon clip DOW-UAP-PR38, per Kyiv Post).
  • Autumn 2022 onward: Russia mounts mass missile and drone strikes, and Ukraine builds a dense air-watch network.
  • 2023: Beskrestnov publishes an earlier front-line UFO clip. He says a state body contacted him within an hour.
  • May 2025: The six-point clip is filmed, according to Beskrestnov.
  • 8 May 2026: The Pentagon releases UAP files at war.gov/ufo, including PR38.
  • 11 May 2026: Beskrestnov posts the clip. UNIAN reports it at 17:45 Kyiv time, and a Metabunk thread opens the same day.
  • May 2026: Kyiv Post publishes its report and compares the clip with PR38.

What believers claim

Some viewers online read the clip as a structured craft with six “cones” and an exhaust plume. They also point to Beskrestnov’s statement that Ukraine’s armed forces hold “a special, detailed document on this topic” cleared by the commander-in-chief.

What the research found

The source is real and senior. UNIAN and Kyiv Post both attribute the clip to Beskrestnov’s channel. Kyiv Post writes that Ukrainian media “confirmed the video and photo content to be real battle drone footage, but none suggested extraterrestrial objects.”
